Our LSA-HD® connection module, which has been approved by Deutsche Telekom for use in its networks, is just 12.5 mm tall (backmount frame grid dimension 13.5 mm). This means that it is about half the height of the old Series 2 and can accordingly double connection capacity in distribution frames, cable heads and cross connection cabinets. This reduction in size, which does not compromise any of the advantages of the Series 2, has been achieved by introducing a completely new cable and jumper wire routing system designed specifically to meet the requirements of modern communication networks and the increasing space demands of active network components. The module can be inserted in either direction, so both cable side and jumper side can be wired with the module in situ.
The exhaustive testing carried out by the renowned certification company SGS prior to the approval by Deutsche Telekom demonstrates, moreover, that the technical performance of the new LSA-HD® module is at least as good as that of the Series 2 in all aspects and is actually considerably better in certain key areas, including transmission speed.
Plastic clamping ribs (1), Contact slot (2), Contact jaws (3), Wire (4), Torsion forces on the contact (5), Return forces on the contact (6) The new LSA-HD® module, which is based on the globally proven 45-degree LSA contact, is the same width as the LSA Series 2 developed for ten pairs in 1978. The width of the backmount frame and hence also the module row spacing have similarly remained unchanged. Shrinking the height of the module by half while keeping all of the other dimensions the same means that it is now possible to fit two modules in the space formerly required for one. The VKA 1 HD small distribution frame, for example, can accommodate 110 pairs, the similarly dimensioned Series 2 VKA 1 only 60 pairs. The EVs08 HD, which has also been certified by SGS and approved by Deutsche Telekom for use in its networks, can accommodate 20 connection modules with label holder, dust protection cover and cable clamp – that is to say 200 pairs – in the backmount frame, the old Series 2 only ten modules amounting to 100 pairs. The schematic capacity comparison illustrates the enormous space gains made and shows how reserve capacity for future expansion can be created even in existing installations. The installation guide explains the completely redesigned cable and jumper wire routing system clearly and demonstrates the remarkable ease of installation of the LSA-HD® modules. The key advantages of the LSA-HD® module are readily summarized:
Just as with the Series 2, there is a full range of accessories available for the LS‑HD® module including splitters, test cords and changeover adapters.
